Calculator Rules and Information

Set out below is information
relating to the use of the various calculators included in the Sports
Betting Calculator Program. These calculators have been designed to give
maximum assistance in the attempt to make betting more profitable.
Permutations Calculators
Combination and Permutation Calculator
Translates your
selections into Combinations or Permutations
Combinations
versus Permutations.
The difference
concerns whether the order matters, more or less.
If you, for
instance, have to perm 6 items from 7 in any order, the number of
permutations would be 5040.
If however you
have to calculate the combinations of 6 items from 7 in the order they
appear the number of combinations would be 7, some 720 times fewer
combinations.
The
Combination / Permutation calculator has 3 functions.
1.
To just display the number of combinations or
permutations selected in the Criteria Box.
2.
To display the actual combinations or
permutations that are calculated as they are calculated.
3.
To display combinations or permutations based
on the above using the selections the user enters. To enter
your
own
selections check the check box marked Combine or Perm selected Numbers.
For All types
sports gambling Perms. !!
Combination Bet Calculator
The Multiple
Combination Bet Calculator is designed to put the working outs of
combinations in the Combination and Permutation Calculator into action. The
calculator will calculate all combination of two outcomes from up to eight
selections.
The calculator
allows the taking into consideration all eventualities of a race including;-
1.
Win Only Bets
2.
Each-Way Bets
3.
Rule 4 decisions
4.
Dead Heats
Shortcut keys
allows quick entry of results with help screen to assist along the way
When the
result has been calculated a full breakdown is clearly displayed in a
results grid.
Multiple & Special Bet Calculator
The Multiple &
Special Bet Calculator is a calculator designed to calculate the returns on
single or multiple bets including accumulators, permutations, patents,
Yankee bets, Trixie bets, Lucky 15 and Lucky 31 bets with functions to
include allowance for dead heats or Rule 4 decisions. The Calculator can be
set to fractional, decimal or US odds format and has a print-out function
for calculated returns.
Laying
Calculators
Dual Bet and Lay Calculator
The Dual Bet
and Lay Calculator is a calculator designed to give the user the ability to
either bet with a Bookmaker for a selection to win a race and lay the
selection with a betting exchange to lose, or, to Back the selection with a
Betting Exchange and to Lay the selection with the same or different betting
Exchange. The calculator will then calculate the Bookmakers or Exchange win
Profit/Loss and the Exchange Lay Profit/Loss. It will then calculate the
overall profitability of the bets indicating if an overall Profit or Loss
will be made for each type of bet and if a possible arbitrage is available.
It can also calculate the Profit/Loss for a single Laying bet with a Betting
Exchange.
Lay Bet Dutching / Hedging Calculator
The basic
principle behind the calculators included in the Lay Bet Dutcher is to help
you think like a bookmaker. The object is to lay different amounts of money
on each horse according to the odds in order to guarantee a profit
regardless what the outcome of the race is.
Remember that
(generally) only one horse can win. If the winner is not a selection you
have included in your book, you clean up by collecting ALL the all lay bets
staked. If one of the selections you have in the books wins you will pay out
the money risked “Possible Loss” but will collect the stakes on all the
other selections in your book. As long as your book is over-round (The
Arbitrage indicator shows “Yes”) you will make a profit on the race. Of
course this assumes that all money you layed gets matched. i.e. taken up by
punters.
Each-Way Bet and Lay Calculator
The Each-Way
Bet and Lay Calculator combines the Each-Way bet placed with a Bookmaker and
the Laying of the Win and Place bets with a Betting Exchange.
The calculator
is designed to take advantage of the fact that the Bookmakers place odds are
directly linked to their win odds, while the exchanges have separate win and
place markets.
You can often
lay the place part of a bet at significantly lower odds than the Bookmakers
are offering. Provided you do not have to offer substantially bigger win
odds you can frequently guarantee a win. Effectively you are guaranteeing
that you lose on the win part of the bet, but are winning more than this
loss on the place part of the bet.
Dutching Calculators
Dutch10 Main Dutching / Hedging Calculator
Dutching /
Hedging is the backing more than one outcome in a single event with
different stakes, depending on the odds available for each selection, to
give the required profit if any of the chosen selections win.
Mini Dutcher
The Mini Dutcher is a stand
alone Dutching / Hedging calculator designed to always float on top of the
screen and capable of being moved around the screen for use when obtaining
odds from other programs or the Web. The Mini Dutcher will dutch up to 4
bets and also has the “Banker” bet facility which gives the stake saving
facility as outlined in the Dutching / Hedging Calculator above.
Variable Dutcher
The Variable Dutcher is a
stand alone Dutching / Hedging calculator designed to always float on top of
the screen and capable of being moved around the screen for use when
obtaining odds from other programs or the Web. The Variable Dutcher will
dutch up to 4 bets and also has the “Banker” bet facility which gives the
stake saving facility as outlined in the Dutching / Hedging Calculator
above. With the Variable Dutcher however, the required profit can be
independently set to what ever profit you required for any selection
according to the confidence you have in it.
Special Bets Calculators
Asian Handicap Calculator
An Asian Handicap is a
sports betting term used to describe spread betting in football (soccer).
Described as Asian because of its Eastern origins, the phrase has little
else to do with the region.
The Asian
Handicap Calculator is a dual purpose calculator for calculating Asian
Handicap bets and Asian Handicap Over / Under bets.
Trifecta / Exacta Calculator
Trifecta
With this bet
you must pick the first three finishing horses in the order of their finish.
In other words, you must pick the horse that wins, the horse that finishes
second and the horse that finishes third.
The simplest
is a Straight Trifecta, which is a single combination of the first three
finishers. The minimum bet for a Straight Trifecta is $2.
Trifecta Box
The trifecta
box has a $1 minimum bet per combination -- $6 minimum total cost. You can
box three or more horses on a single ticket and wager $1 (or more) on each
combination.
The following
examples are for a $1 Trifecta Box:
3 horse box (
6 combinations) Cost $ 6
4 horse box ( 24 combinations) Cost $ 24
5 horse box ( 60 combinations) Cost $ 60
6 horse box (120 combinations) Cost $120
7 horse box (210 combinations) Cost $210
Trifecta Key
The Key Wager
requires the Key horse to finish FIRST with any combination of two or more
horses finishing second and third. For example, if your key horse is #5 and
your other horses are #'s 2, 4 and 6, you will win if #5 finishes first and
two of your other three horses finish second and third.
Trifecta Full
Wheel
You may select
one or two horses to finish in a given position and combine your selection
with all possible combinations. The number of combinations will vary
according to the total number of horses in the race.
Exacta
With this bet
you must pick the first two finishing horses in the order of their finish.
In other words, you must pick the horse that wins and the horse that
finishes second.
Exacta Box
A "box" on two
or more horses in a race means taking all the possible combinations of those
horses in each place of finish. If you have determined that two horses are
the best in the race but you are not sure which one will win and which one
will finish second, then the safest bet is to do the exacta box. You can box
more than two horses, but it is very important to remember that with each
additional horse you add to the box that the cost of the wager goes up
substantially.
Exacta Wheels
If you are
confident in a horse winning a race, but may have several choices as to the
second place finisher, you may elect to do an exacta wheel. If for example,
you think the #4 horse is going to win and either the #2, #5, #7, or #10
horse will finish second, you could place the following wager: ($2 exacta
wheel the 4 WITH the 2, 5, 7, 10).
Using the Calculator
Initially
select the type of bet you require Trifecta or Exacta. You can then select
the type of Trifecta or Exacta bet you wish to place, i.e single, multiple,
box, wheel /key or partial wheel.
When these
have been set a further selection panel will appear where you select the
number of runners or participants.
When the bet
details panel appears check the selections required applicable to the type
of bet chosen. If you are not sure how any type of Trifecta / Exacta bet
works or how to enter the selections click on the “Help Board” button and
full details will be given together with a visual representation of the type
of bet chosen.
When all of
above has been completed click on the calculate button and a display of the
combinations of entries your bet will produce will appear.
Standard Bet Calculator
The
Standard Bet Calculator is designed to give the stake to produce the the
required profit. There are two types of bet calculation panels, the Simple
Bet Calculator and the Bank Bet Calculator.
The
simple Bet Calculator will calculate single bets. The Bank Bet calculator
will calculate various types of bets to sustain a given bank and is
explained in more detail below.
General Calculators
Odds to Chance Calculator
The
Odds to Chance Calculator calculates the percentage chance that any given
odds represents. It is a useful tool to see if the odds on offer for any
given event truely represent the realistic chance the selection actually
has. The calculator will test all odds formats, fraction, decimal and US
odds.
Multifunctional Odds Converter
The odds converter automatically converts odds to the following formats.
Fractional Odds (UK standard)
Decimal Odds (EU Standard)
US Odds (American standard)
As well as converting odds the converter will indicate the return the odds
will give (The bet Stake can be manually set by clicking on the “Bet” box).

The speed is increase by increasing the amount the converter moves each time
the slow up/down button is clicked. The default value is 0.005
To decrease the value of the odds to be converted click on the following
buttons.
Three down chevrons which steps the odds down quickly. Just click on this
button and hold the button down. When button released the odds will stop
scrolling.
The odds can be finely tuned by clicking on the slow odds change button
which has two down chevrons. The setting for this button can be set to one
of 5 different speed settings.
To change the value of the “Bet” amount to be calculated using the displayed
odds click on the text box next to the “Bet” label and enter the sum of the
bet to be calculated. Always enter this in the numerical format 1, 5, 10
etc.
The converter also calculates the percentage chance of the odds converted
and should represent the value that wager should represent.
A
Parlay / Accumulator bet can be calculated using the Odds Converter. To add
selections to the Parlay / Accumulator, when the required odds have been
found just click on the “Add to Parlay Bet” button and the selection will
automatically be added to the bet and the return the selections entered
would produce are calculated. A Parlay / Accumulator bet consists of two or
more selections. The calculator will accept up to 8 selections.
To Clear the Parlay / Accumulator and reset all Odds Converter calculations
click on the “Reset” button.
Commonly used Fractional Odds. The UK betting market tends to use
predetermined commonly used fractional odds. Therefore to assist in quickly
finding the required fractional odds for conversion just click on the left
arrow of the horizontal scroll bar to reduce odds or the right arrow to
increase the odds. The scroll moving button can be dragged to required
commonly used odds. For other fractional odds use the normal up and down
chevron buttons.
Roulette Calculator
The Roulette Calculator is a
stand alone Statistical analysis calculator designed to always float on top
of the screen and capable of being moved around the screen for use when
obtaining results from online Roulette programs.
The Roulette
Calculator is designed solely as an aid in analysing the hits on a roulette
wheel and the sequences those numbers form on the various sections of the
betting layout.
It does not,
or attempt to, predict the subsequential fall of numbers.
The
information in the program is for general information and use and no
responsibility will be accepted by fjholmes Software for any investment or
bets made.
US
Calculators
Parlay Calculator
Parlays are a
very popular kind of bet – they have a good potential for big payoffs
compared to the size of the wager, and they are quite a simple form of bet.
To place a
parlay, you bet on two or more teams to win their games – all of the teams
must win, or at least tie, for you to win the bet. If one of the teams
loses, then the bet is lost.
There are two
different kinds of parlays. You can wager against the point spread, or
against the money line. When wagering against the spread, the payoff is
fixed, with the payout increasing the more teams you bet on. The payoff can
range from 13-5 on a 2 team parlay to 600-1 on a 10 team parlay. This means
that if you bet on two teams, you can win $13 for each $5 you bet. If you
bet on 10 teams and win, then you will get $600 for every $1 you had
wagered.
Bets against
the money line do not use fixed odds, instead your overall payoff is
calculated based on the odds of each team. This is because a spread assumes
a 50-50 chance on each team, while money line bets just require the team to
win or lose – without points being taken into consideration.
A money line
parlay will, in simple terms, take the amount of your bet and place it on
one team, then re-calculate your bet for the next team, until the bet has
been placed on all of the teams. This can often work out better in terms of
payoff than a points spread parlay, especially if one of the teams is not
favored to win.
Teaser Calculator
A
teaser is a group of single parley bets. The difference between a parley and
a teaser is that with the teaser the line you bet against for each
individual bet is made more advantageous by adjusting the point spread in
your
favor.
For example if for a parley the line is -6 if you have a 4 point teaser the
line would be -2 (-6 less 4 points).
Teasers are very popular sports bets as the points spread allows you to
adjust the points spread in your favour.
Ties lose on all teasers except the 2 team teaser where the tie is a push if
one team ties and the other team wins, if one team ties and the other team
loses the teaser is lost.
Reverse Bet Calculator
A
Reverse Bet is a series of “IF” bets going both forward and in “reverse”
order.
There are two types of bet action “IF Win” and “ IF Action”.
An IF Win wager will continue only if the first leg wins. If the first leg
wins the second leg will have action. If the first leg is a push or no
action the amount wagered is returned. If the second leg has action the
first element of the reverse IF bet is the element reversing back to the
initial wager.
An IF Action means if the first element of the wager, is cancelled, no
action, push or win, the second element of the wager is then placed.
Miscellaneous Calculators and Information
Staking Plan
Staking Plan
Objectives
The Staking
Plan is a steady drip of profit approach to winning. A set bank is fixed
and a percentage target increase is set. For example if the start bank of
1000 points was fixed and a percentage target increase of 1% was set, the
next target bank figure would be 1000 + 1% = 1010 points.
The target
bank always increases by the percentage target increase per bet therefore
the next target would be 1010 + 1% = 1020.10 and so on. The object is to
attempt to keep the bank to the required target bank.
The stake for
each bet is decided by the level of confidence in the selected bet. The
level of confidence is indicated by the Type of bet “A”, “B”, “C” or “S”.
These are decided on setup of each individual staking plan i.e “A” could =
10% of target bank if very confident, “B” could = 5% of target bank if not
so confident, “C” could = 2.5% of target bank if less confident and finally
“S” could = 1% of target bank if not so sure. The number of bets in
sequence is decided on set up of the staking plan for example a 100 bet
sequence of bets starting with a bank of 1000 with a 1% increase would
produce a final bank of 2704.81 points.
The value of
the stake is the percentage “A”, “B”, “C” or “S” of the target i.e. if your
initial bank was 1000 and your target for the first bet was 1010.00 the bet
would be the percentage of the target figure and not the bank.
The target
figure will continue to increase by the set amount and the stake percentage
will always be a percentage of that new figure.
Spread Bet Calculator
Special bet based upon a
total number of given actions in a particular sporting event (i.e. goals in
a soccer match, runs scored in cricket or points in Rugby ). The punter
predicts whether this total will be above or below a particular level
represented by a “spread” of numbers.
The Spread Bet Calculator is
a general spread calculator which has a facility to allow for the entry of a
Stop Loss figure which limits the liability of losses subject to a premium
cost which can be entered and allowed for in calculations.
